Sibutramine Hydrochloride is an oral anorexiant. The term anorexiant means appetite suppressant. Sibutramine Hydrochloride is a drug used to reduce appetite, resulting in lower food consumption and leading to weight loss. It works by controlling chemicals in the brain that lowers down the hunger or food craving.    

Sibutramine actively alters brain neurotransmitters, which are released by nerves to communicate between each other.

Sibutramine basicly increases production of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine which are all different types of neurotransmitters, which actively produces a sense of satiety and decrease in appetite, causing the user to eat less.

Dosage:

Sibutramine can be taken with or without food. It is usually taken once daily. Doctors recommend taking these pills in the morning before breakfast. For obesity treatment, an initial dosage of 10 mg per day is given. If adverse reactions occur, the dose can be reduced to 5 mg per day.

The amount of weight lost is dependent both on the dose taken and the intensity of the behavioural therapy. Clinical research shows that a daily dose of 10mg of Sibutramine Hydrochloride for 4 weeks along with low carb diet is capable of reducing 2 kg. If this result is not achieved in the duration of 4 weeks, daily dose can be increased to 15 mg.

Increased dosage requires close monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure. 15 mg per day is considered maximum for general treatment of obesity.

Course of Sibutramine should not be continued for more than 2 years in a row.

In case missing a dose, missed dose can be taken as soon as possible, if in collision with next dose, user should skip the missed dose. Two doses should be never taken at once, because overdose symptoms could follow.

Precautions
Do not use Sibutramine Hydrochloride if you suffer from blood pressure irregularities or hearth problems..
Do not use if you have a history of heart problems including cholesterol issues.
Patients undergoing dialysis for kidney problems should refrain from using this drug.
Pregnant and breast-feeding females should consult their doctor before using these pills.
People above 65 year should not use Sibutramine, because effect for elderly people is not confirmed.

Side effects

Considering the cardio-vascular risks caused by this drugs, symptoms like fast, pounding or uneven heartbeats and chest pain can occur. Risk of heart stroke and similar problems are also increased. Difficulty in breathing, nausea, high fever, sweating, dilated pupils are also reported. In case of overdosing listed symptoms can follow. Very high blood pressure causing headache, blurred vision and anxiety. Frequent bruising and unstoppable bleeding like nosebleeds and bleeding gums. Problems with vision and speech as this drug may impair thinking capacity. Chest pain spreading to one part of the body or numbness on one side of the body. These overdose symptoms should disappear rapidly.
